Todo Puede Cambiar – A song for WJT2011

Êin Song für den Weltjugendtag in Madrid – Alles ist veränderbar.
(A song written for the World Youth Day in Madrid.)

This video was made by DomRadio, the Archdiocesan Radio station in Cologne, Germany in collaboration with the Youth Ministry Secretariat of Cologne, to promote WYD11 among German youth, with a Spanish flavour.

Luis Nino Hormaza went to World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, with a group of young people from Colombia. Little did he know that this trip would change his life. At WYD05 he met his now wife Wenke and decided to move to Cologne.  For Luis, a lot has changed: foreign country, foreign language, foreign culture.

For WYD 2011 in Madrid, Luis wrote a song in German titled “Todo puede cambiar” (Everything Can Change), inspired by his story of change and many other life stories, particularly, that of of 20-year-old sprinter Vanessa Low, whose life was changed forever when a train accident in 2006 resulted in the loss of both legs.

Today, Vanessa can walk again with the help of prostheses. Not only can she walk, but she can run, and run fast. She won bronze in the 100-metre sprint the IAAF World Championships of disabled athletes in Christchurch, New Zealand. Her eyes are now set on the Paralympic Games in London in 2012. Vanessa’s shocking story is one that fascinates and touches people, but also gives them courage.

Luis and Vanessa’s song is now a music video produced by the Cologne-based production DomRadio. It is their contribution to the mega event in Madrid.
